Approach / Expertise

TPG provided planning and resource management services to the Canterbury District Health Board in securing non-notified resource consent for a new integrated family health centre in Akaroa, with this comprising aged residential care facilities, general practice, inpatient facilities and provision for allied community services. The site presented a number of challenges in relation to its topography, protected trees, cultural and character area overlays, and a residential zoning.

The assistance provided by TPG involved the initial planning investigations and pre-application discussions with Council, presentation to a Council design and appearance panel, a comprehensive resource consent application and extensive negotiation with Council planning staff, along with assistance in securing approvals for temporary health care activities during construction.
